Services such as chemical peels and advanced collagen building procedures will have more specific Post-Care instructions which are provided directly upon completion.
Pre-Care instructions are universal.
2 Weeks Before a Facial
Wait 2 weeks after any injectable or medical service including Botox/Xeomin/Dysport, Dermal Filler, chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments
Stop using prescription strength tretinoin or Retin-A
1 Week Before a Facial
Stop using over the counter retinols or retinoids
Limit sun exposure
48 Hours Before a Facial
Do not wax, tweeze, or otherwise remove facial hair
Stop using any exfoliators such as AHA’s, BHA’s, (this include, glycolic, salicylic, and lactic acids)
Day of Service
Please reschedule if you are feeling ill or have open skin wounds or cold sores
It is absolutely fine to arrive with makeup on
Men do not need to shave. It is requested that they leave facial hair as they would normally wear it
Do not come directly from a workout without showering as it is not sanitary
Day of Service
Appointments done in the morning or afternoon
You may wash your face with a gentle or hydrating products only at night. Jamie Leigh will happily look at your current routine and advise if your products are safe for use after service
Appointments done in the evening
You do not have to wash your face before sleeping
Avoid all sun exposure
Reapply SPF if you are outdoors after 3 hours
Certain services it is okay to wear makeup after a facial, although not necessarily recommended. Please let Jamie Leigh know if it is your intention to apply cosmetics after a service.
24-48 Hours Post-Service
Depending on the service, localized redness or swelling is normal for up to 48 hours post-procedure
Continue to avoid direct sun exposure.
Responsibly enjoy the outdoors after 48 hours with SPF 30+ reapplied every 3 hours. A hat is also recommended.
You may wear your makeup as normal as long as your brushes and tools are clean/sanitized
It is possible you may experience skin purging. This is NORMAL (much like being sore after going to the gym).
Purging is a normal skin process that pushes out impurities such as breakouts that were already underneath the skin.
Purging is more common after a first facial or a first facial in a very long time. It is not expected with every visit.
72 Hours Post-Service
You may resume your AHA’s, BHA’s, and Retinols
Continue to apply SPF 30+ daily and enjoy sun responsibly.
